The life of a sitcom character is simple.
Don’t change. Ever. Except for possibly the third act of an episode, but that’s about it.
The reason you tune in over and over to what your favorite comedy is the familiarity you have with the characters as they are portrayed.
They are not created to go into the depth of real social norms. They are supposed to act consistently (consistently smart, consistently stupid, consistently sex-starved, consistently getting in their own way, etc.) for the sake of ease to churn out more episodes.
Until you have to write out a character or deal some other major plot shift, the characters are forced to remain the same. And even with the shift, they must remain consistent with their new worldview until another major plot shift is possibly introduced in a future season.
Your life might seem odd and quirky, but aren’t you glad you are not a character living in a sitcom?
